Novi Sad kentinde, Çin’in ipek yolu projesi kapsamında daha yeni elden geçen bir tren istasyonunun pergolası çöktü. Aralarında çocukların da olduğu 15 kişi yaşamını yitirdi.
Cumhurbaşkanı Vucic, iki bakanı kurban verdi ama insanları göstermelik bir soruşturma tatmin etmedi. Kamuoyunda “Olaya ilişkin tüm detayları öğrenmek istiyoruz” talebi büyüdü. Burada Türkiye için özellikle bir ders var çünkü Sırbistan’da kurumsal, insanları büyük ölçüde kendisine oy vermeye ikna edebilmiş bir muhalefet yok. Muhalefet çok parçalı. Covid dönemi saçma sapan komplo teorileri anlatan yarı deli bir doktor bile bir muhalefet partisi kurmuş durumda, seçimlere falan giriyor.

Her eylemde katılımcılar, 15 dakika sessiz durup ölenleri anıyor.
Cumartesi günü, sessiz duruş sırasında Cumhurbaşkanlığı binasının olduğu taraftan acayip bir ses geldi. Sosyal medyada videoları da var. Sesi tanımlamak çok güç. Çok yüksek korkutucu bir ses. İnsanlar kendilerini yerlere attı. Bunun üzerine öğrenciler yeleklerini çıkarıp, “Eylem bitti… İş başka yere gidiyor” dediler ve “Eylem bitti” diye anons yaptılar.

Neler olduğu ertesi gün anlaşıldı. Eylemciler Cumhurbaşkanlığı sarayı tarafından LRAD denilen, bir tür ses bombası atıldığını söylüyorlar.
Benim anladığım öğrencilere sistem içerisinden bilgi sızıyor. Provokasyon olacağını haber almışlar, onun için iş karışmaya başlar başlamaz eylemi sonlandırdılar.
Hükümetin cumartesi günü için anlaşılan planı şuydu, garip bir ses bombasıyla kalabalığı karıştırmak, sonra hükümet yanlıları ile eylemciler arasında bir çatışma çıkarmak, ardından da bu bahaneyle muhalefet liderlerini, protesto ile alakası olmasa bile tutuklamak.
Sırbistan Cumhurbaşkanı Vucic, eylemcilerin LRAD iddialarını yalanıyor. “Bunun hükümetle bir alakası yok, eylemciler dronları bozmak için frekans bozucu kullanmış, o ses ondan” diyor. Dahası, LRAD kullanıldığı iddiasında bulunanların dezenformasyondan yargılanması gerektiğini söylüyor.

The movement demanding the government to be held accountable is led by students. There is a lesson here for Turkey in particular, because Serbia does not have an institutional opposition that has been able to convince people to vote for it on a large scale. The opposition is very fragmented. Even a half-mad doctor who tells absurd conspiracy theories during the Covid period has established an opposition party and is running in elections and such.

The good and bad side of the series of actions that started after the tragedy is that it is not affiliated with a political party, it has no leader. Students are at the forefront, they coordinate everything.
The coordination of Saturday's action was also in the hands of students. Following the October 5 uprising against Serbian dictator Milosevic, who did not accept the election results, the most crowded action in the country's history took place. According to the activists, 1 million people, and according to the government, 100 thousand people gathered in the center of Belgrade. Serbia is a country of 6-7 million people, so gathering more than a hundred thousand people is a huge task.
At each protest, participants stand in silence for 15 minutes and remember those who died.
On Saturday, during the silent stance, a strange sound came from the side of the Presidential building. There are videos on social media. It is very difficult to describe the sound. It was a very loud, frightening sound. People threw themselves on the ground. Thereupon, the students took off their vests and said, “The action is over… Things are going somewhere else” and made the announcement, “The action is over.”

What happened became clear the next day. Activists say a type of sound bomb called an LRAD was thrown by the presidential palace.
From what I understand, information is leaking to the students from within the system. They were informed that there would be a provocation, so they ended the action as soon as things started to get complicated.
The government's apparent plan for Saturday was to stir up the crowd with a strange sound bomb, then provoke a clash between government supporters and protesters, then use that excuse to arrest opposition leaders, even if they had nothing to do with the protest.
Serbian President Vucic denies activists’ claims about LRAD. “This has nothing to do with the government, activists used jammers to disrupt drones, that’s what makes the noise,” he says. Furthermore, he says those who claim LRAD was used should be tried for disinformation.
