Cumhurbaşkanı Yardımcısı Cevdet Yılmaz, 29 Mart 2025 günü paylaştığı X mesajında ve 5 Nisan 2025 günü katıldığı televizyon programında tutuklu gençlerle ilgili öyle laflar etti ki benim de radarıma girdi.
Yılmaz’ın o sözlerine gelmeden önce, geçmişte yaptığı bazı açıklamalardaki bilgilerin doğru olup olmadığını araştıran “Doğruluk Payı” ekibinin tespitlerini paylaşacağım.
- Cevdet yılmaz, “AK Parti iktidara geldiğinde milli gelir 230 milyar dolardı, kişi başı gelir ise 3 bin-3 bin 500 dolar seviyesindeydi. Geçen yıl milli gelirimiz 720 milyar dolar oldu, (milli geliri) 3 kattan fazla arttırdık” dedi.

“Bazı rakamlar istatistiklerle örtüşse de iddia genel olarak ciddi miktarda abartı ve yanıltma içermekte.”
- Cevdet Yılmaz, “2015 yılında gerçekleşen yüzde 4’lük büyüme hızı Hindistan (yüzde 7,3), Çin (yüzde 6,8), Filipinler (yüzde 6,0), Pakistan (yüzde 4,2), Malezya (yüzde 4,7), Endonezya’dan (yüzde 4,7) sonra en yüksek büyüme hızıdır” dedi.

Daha birçok tartışmalı açıklaması var ama yerim yok.
Aynı Cevdet Yılmaz 29 Mart’ta paylaştığı sosyal medya mesajında doğru olmayan ifadeler kullandı:
- “Hangi parti ve görüşten olurlarsa olsunlar, gençlerin kendilerini meşru platformlarda ifade etmeleri, demokratik siyaset yapmaları son derece kıymetlidir.”
(Barışçıl gösterilere katılan gençlerin muhatap olduğu hukuksuzluklara, gördükleri işkence kötü muameleye ve yatarı olmayan bir suçlama olmasına rağmen tutuklanmalarına bakarsanız Cevdet Yılmaz’ın söylediği gerçeği yansıtmamaktadır.)
- “Ancak gençlerin siyasete katılımlarını sokak terörü ile karıştırmak gençlere de demokrasiye de büyük haksızlık olur. Gençlerimiz ve ülkemiz için daha güzel yarınlar meşru alanın dışına çıkılarak kurulamaz.”
(Anayasa’nın 34. maddesi gereği yapılan gösterilerde polis müdahaleleri sırasında ortaya çıkan şiddet dışında hiçbir vandallık ve şiddet yoktu. Anayasa’nın verdiği meşruiyetle protesto hakkının kullanılmasını “sokak terörü” diye niteleyen Cevdet Yılmaz doğruyu söylemiyor.)
- “Aileler çocuklarına, gençler birbirlerine sahip çıktığı sürece, gençlerimizi bu tuzağa çekmeye çalışanlar başarılı olamayacaktır.”
(Cezaevindeki 301 gencin aileleri çocuklarına sahip çıkıyor, cezaevi kapılarında bekliyor, onlarla gurur duyuyor. Gençler de atıldıkları katillerle tecavüzcülerle uyuşturucu tacirleriyle dolu koğuşlarda birbirlerine sahip çıkıyor. Herkes çok iyi biliyor Cevdet Yılmaz’ın söylediği “tuzağın” kim tarafından kurulduğunu.)
Cevdet Yılmaz, katıldığı televizyon programında da şöyle diyor:
“İzin alırsınız, belli bir ortamda toplanırsınız, protesto edersiniz, fikirlerinizi ifade edersiniz. Bununla ilgili hiçbir tartışma söz konusu değil ama sokakların terörize edilmesi kabul edilemez. Son süreçlerde yüzbinlerce insan kendini ifade etti. Tutuklu kişilerin sayısı yüzlerle ifade ediliyor ve burada şiddet olayları var. Sizin yumruk sallama hürriyetiniz benim burnumun başladığı yerde biter. Özgürlükler ve sorumluluklar birlikte ele alınır. İfade hürriyeti hakaret etme hürriyeti değil.”
(Anayasa’nın 34. maddesi şöyle diyor: “Herkes, önceden izin almadan, silahsız ve saldırısız toplantı ve gösteri yürüyüşü düzenleme hakkına sahiptir.”
Ayrıca son gösteriler cumhuriyet tarihinde görülmüş en barışçıl gösterilerdi. Ne şiddet vardı hakaret ne de yumruk sallama... Cevdet Yılmaz bu sözleriyle de kamuoyunu yanıltma yolunu seçti.)

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made such comments about detained youth in his X message on March 29, 2025 and in the television program he attended on April 5, 2025 that he also came to my radar.
Before I get to Yılmaz's words, I will share the findings of the "Doğruluk Payı" team, which investigated whether the information in some of his past statements was true.
- Cevdet Yılmaz said, “When the AK Party came to power, the national income was 230 billion dollars, and the per capita income was around 3,000-3,500 dollars. Last year, our national income was 720 billion dollars, we increased it (national income) more than 3 times.”
Doğruluk Payı investigated and made the following determination:
“While some figures match the statistics, the claim overall contains a significant amount of exaggeration and misleading.”
- Cevdet Yılmaz said, “The 4 percent growth rate in 2015 is the highest growth rate after India (7.3 percent), China (6.8 percent), Philippines (6.0 percent), Pakistan (4.2 percent), Malaysia (4.7 percent) and Indonesia (4.7 percent).”

- Cevdet Yılmaz said, “We have become the third largest country in development aid after England and the USA.”

- Cevdet Yılmaz said, “While many countries, especially in the global crisis environment, cut their R&D expenditures and froze these programs in a very serious way, our country continued to increase these expenditures.”

There are many more controversial statements but I don't have the space.
The same Cevdet Yılmaz used inaccurate expressions in his social media message on March 29:
- “It is extremely valuable for young people to express themselves on legitimate platforms and engage in democratic politics, regardless of their party or viewpoint.”
(If you look at the injustices that young people who participated in peaceful demonstrations face, the torture and ill-treatment they are subjected to, and their arrests despite being accused of nothing, what Cevdet Yılmaz said does not reflect the truth.)
- “However, confusing the participation of young people in politics with street terror would be a great injustice to both young people and democracy. A better future for our youth and our country cannot be established by going beyond the legitimate realm.”
(There was no vandalism or violence during the demonstrations held in accordance with Article 34 of the Constitution, other than the violence that occurred during the police interventions. Cevdet Yılmaz, who describes the exercise of the right to protest with the legitimacy granted by the Constitution as “street terror”, is not telling the truth.)
- “As long as families protect their children and young people protect each other, those who try to drag our young people into this trap will not be successful.”
(The families of the 301 young people in prison are looking after their children, waiting at the prison gates, and are proud of them. The young people are also looking after each other in the cells filled with murderers, rapists and drug dealers. Everyone knows very well who set up the “trap” that Cevdet Yılmaz mentioned.)
Cevdet Yılmaz also said the following in the television program he attended:
“You get permission, you gather in a certain environment, you protest, you express your ideas. There is no debate about this, but the terrorization of the streets is unacceptable. Hundreds of thousands of people have expressed themselves in recent processes. The number of people arrested is in the hundreds and there are violent incidents here. Your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. Freedoms and responsibilities are considered together. Freedom of expression is not the freedom to insult.”
(Article 34 of the Constitution states: “Everyone has the right to organize unarmed and peaceful meetings and demonstrations without prior permission.”
In addition, the recent demonstrations were the most peaceful in the history of the republic. There was no violence, no insults, no fist-waving... Cevdet Yılmaz chose to mislead the public with these words.)
