New York Times muhabiri Sarah Lyall geçen hafta New York Kennedy Havaalanı’ndaki Türk Hava Yolları Business Lounge’ında otururken, karşısındaki açık televizyon ekranında günün en önemli haberi veriliyordu.
Konu, New York Belediye başkanı Eric Adams hakkında hazırlanan rüşvet iddianamesiydi.

Muhabir haberi dikkatle izledi.
Çünkü o gün o lounge’da bulunmasının nedeni o haberdi.

Çünkü haberde sözü edilen rüşveti Türk yetkilileri ve bazı iş insanları vermişti.
Verilen rüşvetlerden ikisi de şuydu:
Dünyanın birçok yerine seyahatinde New York Belediye Başkanı’na verilen bedava business class biletleri ve İstanbul’un en pahalı ve lüks otellerinden birinde kendisine açılan “Bentley Suitinde” bedava ağırlanmasıydı.
Gazetesi muhabire, THY’nin İstanbul uçuşu için gidiş dönüş bir Business Class bilet almıştı.
Amacı belediye başkanın bu gidiş ve ağırlamalarda kaç dolarlık bedava uçuş ve ağırlama hizmeti aldığını belirlemekti.
İlk fiyat THY gidiş dönüş uçuş biletiydi.
Gazete bunun için 9,236 dolar ödemişti.

Üstelik hepsinin fotoğraflarını da çekmiş.

Bu arada THY’nin Skytrax 2024 En İyi Business Class ödülünü aldığını bile yazmış.
Sonra sıra New York Belediye Başkanı’nın İstanbul’da bedava kaldığı St. Regis Oteli’ne geliyor.

Bütün bu yolculuğu çok keyifli biçimde anlatıyor.

Yeni Türkiye’de fındık fıstık parası denilecek bir şey
Amerika bir haftadır New York Belediye Başkanı’nın aldığı bu rüşveti konuşuyor.
Aslında Yeni Türkiye ölçülerine vurduğunuzda rüşvet kapsamına bile girmeyecek “Peanuts”, yani fındık fıstık parası bile diyebileceğiniz şeyler bunlar.

Samimi olarak çok hoşuma gitti, Birleşmiş Milletler’in bulunduğu şehirde böyle prestijli bir binanın Türkiye’ye kazandırılması. Ne zaman önünden geçsem gururla bakıyorum.
